Hi!

I am Ovidiu Popa, a biologist specializing in the field of computational ecology. My research interests lie in the study of microbial communities in polar regions, encompassing phytoplankton, zooplankton, prokaryotes, viruses, and phages. I utilize a combination of machine learning, advanced statistical methods, and traditional bioinformatics to analyze genetic material collected during numerous expeditions.

Our collaborative endeavors with esteemed institutions, including AWI, MPI Bremen, University of Bremen, University of Oldenburg, and BAS, have enhanced our research and facilitated groundbreaking discoveries. I invite you to peruse our publications for a comprehensive overview of our scientific achievements and contributions. Join me in this exciting endeavor to elucidate the intricacies of polar microbial ecosystems!
